United Country Missouri Land & Home expanded its brokerage licensing into Iowa in 2017.  Since the company’s formation in 2006, United Country Missouri Land & Home and United Country – Commercial, Columbia, MO has been a consistent top sales office in the United Country franchise.  Most recently, United Country announced that our Columbia office was the #1 Auction Office and was ranked 4th in sales volume out of over 500 franchise offices internationally for 2017 and 2016.  Ranked 2nd in 2015, 2014 and 2013 and ranked #1 in 2012, the company attributes its consistent success to devotion to customer service, strategic marketing practices, and the offering of both traditional real estate and auction services.  We believe we bring a unique auction marketing package to our clients and look forward to serving the Iowa market.

Meet the Iowa Team

 Kurt Hollenberg, Broker

For Kurt an active engagement in the farming industry at a young age sparked his interest in property ownership.  Family entrepreneurship is also in his heritage.  Running a real estate brokerage allows him to combine both—he’s proud that today his wife and oldest son are part of the organization.

Kurt is intentional about promoting a team atmosphere in the office, built for the purpose of customer satisfaction.  In turn, Kurt’s agents and customers have described him as being, “fair, dedicated, sincere, knowledgeable, and professional.”  Kurt describes himself as “driven”.  His business philosophy is simple:  “Communication is key,” he says.  “There should be no assumptions—ask and ask, again.  And above all—listen.”

Kurt’s involvement with The REALTOR Land Institute, and his United Country franchise affiliation, allows him to visit regularly with brokers throughout the nation.  Constant exposure to new marketing ideas, leadership strategies and industry practices keeps him current, transferring this knowledge to his team and ultimately the customer.

Under his professional care and guidance, for the past 7 years, Kurt’s team has consistently ranked in the top 5 offices of the United Country Franchise.  Currently, Kurt is United Country Real Estate’s National Farm Director and also serves as the President-Elect for the Missouri chapter of the REALTOR Land Institute.  When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and working on the farm with his youngest son, tending to the family cattle operation.

Matt Kirchner, Sales Associate


Matt grew up on a family farm in Rural Clark County, where he still currently resides with his wife and two children.  Growing up in the whitetail trophy rich area of Northeast Missouri and Southeast Iowa, the outdoors have been a huge part of Matt’s life, especially deer hunting.  Helping you find that perfect hunting farm, piece of great tillable ground or the perfect weekend getaway recreational piece is what Matt loves to do!  He will make you priority #1 to get that accomplished.  Matt is licensed in both Missouri and Iowa.

 Jason Thurman, Sales Associate

Jason grew up on a cattle farm in Cooper County.  This way of life taught him about working hard and seeing the benefits of that hard work. Columbia College is where he attended college.   A double major, Business Administration and Marketing was the reward for his hard work in education.  The combination of farming life and getting his degree taught Jason many skills that he now carries over to the real estate business.  Personally Jason am an outdoorsman, hunting and fishing are at the top of his list but he is extremely passionate about chasing giant whitetails. Jason also enjoys meeting new people and gaining knowledge of all types of properties, which are the items that attracted him to the real estate business.  Jason is proud to be part of one of the top Agencies in the nation, United Country Missouri Land & Home!


Troy Thurman, Sales Associate

Troy is a lifelong resident of Cooper County where he resides on the family farm with his wife and two children.  Operating the family farm has given him extensive knowledge in farming and cattle operations.  This hands on experience was key in Troy becoming one of the top sales leaders in agriculture income producing and recreational properties nationwide.  Recently Troy had the privilege of working on the sale of two of the larger tracts of land in Missouri.  One was a 4100 acre River Bottom Farm in Howard County the other was a 4850 acre Chariton River Bottom farm in Adair and Schuyler Counties. One of Troy’s passions is hunting Boone & Crockett whitetails. Having taken several 170”plus whitetail in his career he knows what a farm needs to produce world class deer. Troy’s expertise is finding properties nationwide for buyers that may not be on the market. Putting the time and effort into locating what the buyer is looking for. Treating people like you want to be treated along with being honest and trustworthy is what attributed to Troy becoming the United Country Franchise # 5 sales associate nationwide in 2012 and # 3 sales associate nationwide in 2013. Troy is licensed in Missouri, Arkansas and Iowa!


Wes Tiemann, Auctioneer

 The auction business has been the focal point of a professional career centered around the cattle industry for Wes. Being raised on a farm in Audrain county sparked a work ethic that has taken him around the country to over 1,000 farms and ranches and 700 auctions as an auctioneer, ring man, sale manager, or consultant. It’s an understanding of people’s needs and desires that makes working such a diverse landscape possible.

Wes manages a successful monthly publication for the Missouri Cattleman’s Association and is partners in a purebred Angus consulting firm. Wes has put sales and long term business plans together for people of all walks of life working in a professional and prompt manor to execute a successful sales strategy. While work takes a lot of time from his young family and church he is dedicated greatly to them both and holds traditional American values dear.
